Model Test Shoots

A “Test Shoot” to me is a relaxed no-charge ice breaker shoot that I offer to models who I haven’t worked with before who may fit a project need I have. These test shoots are an opportunity for us to discuss your goals, and my shoot needs, as well as to see if we work well together. They are done as “Time for CD” shoots meaning I don’t pay you, you don’t pay me, but you will receive images that you can use. Below I try to explain how I work these, what I’m looking for and answer any questions you may have.

Experience?
No modeling experience is necessary. You don’t have to be “Barbie-Doll” perfect. I prefer to work with “Girl Next Door” types, rather than “SuperModels”.

How Long?
A test shoot takes about 1 1/2 – 2 hours, and is done at an outdoors location convenient to both of us. I shoot in a relaxed fashion, and welcome feedback from you on how things are going. If a suggested pose isn’t for you, let me know, and if you have an idea, lets try it out.

What to shoot?
Some suggested outfit types / components:
- Dressy (ie prom, fancy dress, night on the town, clubbing type)
- Casual (every day wear)
- Sexy (something to accent you that you feel is ‘sexy’)
- Swim wear (if we’re shooting at a beach)
- Professional (suit, business casual)
- Personality (sports stuff, school uniforms, prom dresses, cheerleader uniforms, gym work out clothes, goofy costumes, etc. Something that’s -you-)

Make Up?
My preference is minimal to no makeup, which is left up to you.  If you would like to have a professional make up artist make you shine, I can usually have one available, however there is a fee for her services. Please let me know what you would like done and I can put the 2 of you in touch to discuss rates.

Compensation?
You will receive a proof set of all images taken within 48 hours of our test shoot, and up to 5 ready-to-print images edited to 8×10 size.

Model Release?
A signed model release must accompany all shoots.

Escorts?
You are more than welcome to bring an unobtrusive escort to your test shoot. Please leave all jealous significant others at home though. If your escort is also female, she is also welcome to join in the session and test as well, either individually or together.  These test shoots are intended to evaluate your potential and mine to work together, not be a cheap substitute for a couple photo.

After your test shoot is done, and the images evaluated, we will then discuss possible future projects together.
