Tennessee State Monument (Gettysburg)

Description

The three soldiers and three stars on the monument represent the three Tennessee regiments who fought at Gettysburg. The Tennessee monument is the last of the Confederate state monuments, it is the only one paid for entirely by private donations. It stands atop a base bearing the outline of the state whose 16 foot length represents Tennessee as the 16th state of the Union.
